We come in peace - lessons learned from MySQL at hyper scale

PlanetScale is known for hosting some of the world's largest relational databases with Vitess and MySQL. We have now entered the world of Postgres with our cloud product and Neki — Vitess for Postgres.

In this talk, I will share the lessons I've learned from running SQL databases at the scale of tens of millions of QPS and hundreds of petabytes. How I've fallen in love with Postgres and how I see Postgres becoming the next hyperscale relational database. We'll explore what MySQL gets right about replication and clustering and Postgres' strengths and weaknesses when it comes to taking on these new frontier workloads.
